Winter getaway.

Now that the semester’s over for everyone, it’s the perfect time to call up your friends that you haven’t seen in a while and do winter activities! There’s a ton of different things to do around montreal but if you have access to a car, take the chance to explore outside the city limits!

Wanting to spend some time in nature and forget all about finals, my friends and I decided to take a little day trip to Mont Saint-Sauveur. We grabbed our skates, jumped in the car and drove the short 30 minutes to the outside skating rink.

Situated in the John H. Molson park, this skating rink goes around the forest in crossed over paths that total 2 kilometres. There’s a couple of benches across the rink as well to sit when your feet get achey. The key to this place is going early and during the week! We were there around 11AM and ended up having the whole place to ourselves.

Once you’ve skated your life away, we highly suggest stopping for brunch at Orange & Pamplemousse. It’s only a couple minutes away from the skating rink and the food is absolutely incredible there. Eggs benedict, french toast and freshly pressed juice are only a handful of things that you will find on the menu!

There’s a ton of different activities to do around the city as well. The village is the perfect place for last minute christmas shopping because you can find outlets from well-known brands along with smaller, more specific shops that are sure to help you find the perfect gem.

If you’re into skiing as well, the mountain is finally open and with the great weather we’ve been having, now is the perfect moment to go!

Saint-Sauveur is really a gorgeous place to go and take a breath out of the city. If you’re looking to take a little break and enjoy your holiday vacation, this is definitely the place to go.
